Practice Positivity!

Being a mini chef and baker is an amazingly fun experience.
Baking and cooking is such a wonderful activity, so remember to
have fun and always approach every recipe, every class and every
step with a positive attitude! Remember what you put in is
exactly what you're gonna get out!

Preparation

Make sure you are cooking and baking with a parent
present. It's so important even for the little things such
as cutting or even just placing an item into the oven or
cooking on the stove. A parent present means we are
safe!
• Wear a mask if needed!
• Bye bye germs! Remember to wash your hands really
thoroughly for about 30 seconds to 1 minute in warm
water. Don’t forget your soap! You want to wash your
hands before and after cooking.
• For safety we suggest for you to also look into wearing
close toed shoes.
• Don’t forget to always wash your produce before using
or consuming it!
• Remember for ultimate safety we want to make sure
there is no cross contamination – Always keep your raw
meat and vegetables and other produce separate. This
means using different cutting boards, utensils and
tools

Using Knives In The
Kitchen

• Never run or walk with a knife in your hand
• Only use a knife with a parent present
• For younger children use a serrated knife, plastic knife
or butter knife
• For older children you are welcome to use chef knives
that are the smaller sized ones or even a lettuce knife.
• Please keep in mind all knife use is at the parents
discretion.
• When cutting look down and do not cut your hands or
fingers or even place fingers close to where the blade
is cutting.Text

Let’s be safe with heat!

• It's best you always assume that the oven, stove top or
any other service could potentially be hot. So I always
make sure you're using protective equipment from your
oven mitts to also making sure you're getting help from
a parent to always make sure you're safe.
• If you're going to be opening the oven, make sure that
everyone in the household knows. Simply say I'm
opening the oven and it's hot! This is an easy way to let
everyone know what's happening so everyone is safe.
• Don't forget the one opening of the oven there's a
huge batch of hot air that usually comes out so be sure
to stand back open the oven making sure you're
standing bag and that way you don't get hit by that
huge rush of heat.
• Using the stove top can be tricky, the best tip is to
always make sure when stirring you have your elbow
pointed as high as possible and also avoid bending at
the wrist because you cut once during end up burning
yourself.
• A great trip to ensure no one ends up spilling the pot
or pan is to simply move the handle to the back away
from you so that way there's no chance of the pot
handles spilling
